Ta'Neshia Ford

Ta’Neshia Ford is a proud graduate of Richmond Public Schools. She graduated with honors from John F. Kennedy High School and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in English Education from Virginia State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude.  Ta’Neshia also holds a Master of Education Degree in Reading and a Post-Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from Virginia Commonwealth University.  She has had an extensive and successful career in education with Richmond Public Schools, serving in several capacities including English teacher, English Department Chair, Assistant Principal and Principal. Her career also includes her service as a Literacy Coach for Virginia Commonwealth University. During her tenure there, Ta’Neshia worked extensively with the Early Reading First Literacy Grants.

Ta’Neshia’s passion is serving at risk students and ensuring that they receive a quality education.  During her current tenure at Virgie Binford Education Center, she has worked extensively to ensure students are exposed to high quality education and experiences.  Her first endeavor was the rebranding of the school from being called simply the “Juvenile” to the more illustrious name Virgie Binford, its true namesake.  She also introduced the Speak Your Soul series, in which guest speakers come to speak to the students about their lives and successes. Former speakers have included Dr. Leonard, Rick Ross, Immanuwel Aleem, and Grammy award winner LeMark Fleming.  Post Dispositional Students have gone on various educational field trips, the first time in school history to such places as Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Naval Base in Virginia Beach. She has also implemented a bold new electronic student file system, which enables each child to have an electronic portfolio.  Her personal mantra is “Keep your heart and mind open to  endless possibilities”.
