George Wythe High School

Dedicated To Excellence

  • Principal To all our Bulldog Students and Families,

This has been a unique first two months of school.  I wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the flexibility and grace shown, as we all learned the virtual school environment. It has been amazing to see how well the students have mastered the skills to learn virtually. Their resilience and ability to adapt, has proven to be invaluable skills that our students demonstrate everyday. We as a school, could not be more proud of each and every one of them. To our Bulldog families, thank you for your support and understanding, as we continue to refine and improve our instructional and outreach practices to better serve your children. We are grateful for your partnership and support. If you are in need of any support that the school or our Community in Schools partners can offer, please let us know so we can assist. I hope that all of you stay safe during these complex times.

    Joe

"RPS Direct" Emails from Superintendent Kamras

  • RPS Direct Update - December 3, 2020

Dear #RPSStrong Family, This evening, I’d like to preview the recommendation I’ll be making to the School Board on Monday regarding the second semester. Before doing so, I want to express my profound gratitude to the nearly 10,000 families and staff who responded to our surveys, as well as the hundreds of people who reached out to me personally to share their thoughts. I also want to thank our educators and support staff, our families, and most of all, our students, for showing each other so much grace over the past several months. Though our fall has been far from perfect, I do believe we managed to #ReopenWithLove and we should all be immensely proud of that. At Monday’s School Board meeting, I will recommend that we remain fully virtual for the second semester. I plan to do so for three reasons. First, given rapidly rising infection rates, I continue to be very concerned about the health and safety of our students, staff, and families. Just yesterday, the United States experienced the highest number of COVID deaths and hospitalizations ever. Here in Virginia, we also hit a new high for hospitalizations.
