Principal's Message

  • Dear Swansboro Elementary Community,

Nothing brings me more joy than positively impacting the life of a child! I see it as an honor to serve you as the incoming Interim Principal of Swansboro Elementary School for the 2021-2022 school year. As your school leader, I am excited about continually expanding my role as a lifelong learner, earnest to use my abilities as a professional and leader for our Swansboro Family.

I have provided servant leadership throughout my educational leadership journey by building positive relationships with staff, students, and stakeholders. I am committed to expanding those experiences to impact Swansboro positively. I have previously served in Richmond City Public Schools and Henrico County Public Schools in various roles such as an Assistant Principal, Administrative Intern, Exceptional Education Team Lead, and Exceptional Education History Teacher.

As I transition into this role, I plan to spend much of my time engaging with staff, students, community partners, parents, and stakeholders. To ensure a smooth transition, I have spent time collaborating with Dr. Scott over the past few days and look forward to carrying the torch of excellence for Swansboro Elementary School.

My goal for Swansboro is to uphold the school’s mission and vision by academically developing students who pursue opportunities to learn and persevere so that they may become productive, involved, well-rounded citizens. While in partnership with you, I look forward to expanding the horizons of Swansboro with each of you. And, in the spirit of Swansboro school pride, I would like to incorporate the school social media hashtag #SwansboroFamily when posting online. Let us go about each school day caring for one another while responsibly teaching and learning. Thank you, Swansboro Family, for taking the first steps towards understanding my hope and dreams for our school community.

I look forward to meeting, learning, and collaborating with each of you. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or ideas you would like to share via email at tsampson@rvaschools.net or contact me via phone at the school at 804-780-5030.

    Best Regards,

    Theron C. Sampson, Interim Principal

  • RPS Direct Update - September 17, 2021

Dear #RPSStrong Family, Happy Friday! Tonight's updates: Mask Reminders – Parents and caregivers, please be sure students have their masks on when approaching and boarding the school bus. This helps ensure a safe and speedy boarding process. Please also make sure to send your students with a mask that fits their face. Adult size masks are not appropriate for small children, as they do not fit tightly (see CDC graphic below). If you need pediatric masks, your school can provide them. Thank you for helping keep RPS safe! COVID-19 Vaccination Mandate – RPS employees, please be reminded that you have until October 1 to submit full proof of vaccination or obtain a religious/medical exemption. Though I pray it doesn't come to this, please understand that any employee who does not meet the requirements of the mandate will face progressive discipline, including loss of employment.
