Principal's Message

  • Dear Woodville Elementary School Community,

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to Woodville Elementary School. As you recently learned, Principal Shannon Washington will be leaving at the end of the 2020-21 school year. We’d like to thank Principal Washington for her leadership and commitment to Woodville students and the community over the last four years.

I’m excited to announce the appointment of Rickeita Jones as the interim principal of Woodville ES for the 2021-22 school year. Mrs. Jones has spent her career working to ensure that children have what they need to succeed and fulfill their purpose in life. Prior to being selected as the new interim principal, Mrs. Jones served as the assistant principal at Westover Hills Elementary School in RPS. In this role she supported students’ academic and social and emotional growth as well as supported teachers with professional learning. Mrs. Jones began her career as a science teacher in RPS, served as a department chair for science in Henrico Public Schools, and was the principal of Meherrin Elementary School in Southampton County, VA. She has a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Virginia Union University and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Virginia State University.

I am confident that Mrs. Jones’ experiences have prepared her for this opportunity – her past experiences as a principal and her current work in RPS – speak volumes to me about her work ethic, her commitment, and her passion. Mrs. Jones is eager to engage with the Woodville ES community and you should expect her to reach out soon.

I want to thank you in advance for welcoming Mrs. Jones and know that I look forward to working closely with the Woodville ES community to ensure both the short-term and long-term success of the school.

    Best,

    Jason Kamras, Superintendent

  • RPS Direct Update - July 21, 2021

Dear #RPSStrong Family, Tonight's updates: Mask Guidance – Despite today's announcement from the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Department of Education allowing for more leniency with mask-wearing in middle and high schools, at RPS, we will be maintaining our 100% mask-wearing policy for all students, staff, and visitors. We feel this is the safest course of action, particularly with the surging delta variant.
