Principal David Hudson
I would like to take this time to welcome all cadets, staff, and parents back to the school year 2020-2021. I would especially like to say WELCOME to our new cadets that will be attending the Franklin Military Academy for the first time. This indeed is going to be a GREAT school year. The Franklin Military Academy’s website has been prepared in the hope that it will become a valuable resource for you and provide you with school news and information. This website has been developed to enable everyone to become familiar with our school, and procedures as we navigate to the virtual school year.
At Franklin Military Academy, our staff set high academic standards for our students. Our staff works diligently to ensure that each child is working to his or her maximum ability. Parents, you must monitor your child's progress and communicate with their teacher. I am asking you to monitor and remind them of the following items as we navigate to our virtual instruction.
- Virtual etiquette - Proper attire: No sleepwear, etc.
- When to use the mute button
- Online Safety: Please make sure cadets are not recording others and make sure they are not using other electronic equipment when academic activities are being taught - For Example - cellular phones
- Communicating politely and always being respectful
- Attendance is non-negotiable. RPS attendance rules will be enforced
- Internet Safety – Only visiting school base sites
The website contains information that is important and useful. I urge you to visit it daily.
Your middle and high school years provide you with a wonderful opportunity to discover your unique talents and gifts. Please stay safe and healthy at all times.
We are excited to get the new school year underway! Although there will be many changes for this year and we will keep you updated.
Each parent is requested to sit down with his or her child and discuss appropriate school and bus behavior. Please review the Richmond Public Schools Student Code of Conduct and Franklin Military Academy School-Wide Discipline Plan.
If you have not received your ASPEN log in, please contact the school so you can make sure you are always aware of your child's progress.
Parents and guardians, it is essential to become an active PTSA member! We hope you will get involved. Together, we can make a positive difference!
If you have a concern at any time, please call. Let us continue to make this an excellent year for our school!
Thanks for allowing me to serve as your child's principal.
Stay safe and we’ll see you soon!

"RPS Direct" Emails from Superintendent Kamras
Dear #RPSStrong Family, I want to wish the RPS Sikh community a very happy Vaisakhi – the Sikh New Year – filled with love, unity, and equality! Turning to more somber news, please join me in extending our heartfelt condolences to the family of yet another RPS student – a young man from George Wythe High School – who was shot and killed over Spring Break. No words can fill the hole created by this devastating tragedy, but I hope that our collective prayers will provide some solace to this student's family and friends. Tonight I also want to acknowledge the anguish and pain caused once again by the killing of a Black man at the hands of police. Daunte Wright's killing – which occurred just miles away from the murder of George Floyd – was utterly senseless. Closer to home, our community has also been rattled by the video of Army Lt. Caron Nazario being pulled over and assaulted by Windsor police last December.
Dear #RPSStrong Family, Welcome back! I hope you all had some time to rest and recharge in the beautiful sunshine last week. I managed to get away for a couple of days and I'm incredibly grateful for the time with my family. Let me start tonight by wishing a Ramadan Mubarak to all RPS students, families, and staff who observe Ramadan! We hope this month is filled with love, peace, and reflection. Today's updates: Two Logistical Notes – First, I want to highlight a new translation feature. If you look in the upper right corner of this email, you'll sink links to our five most commonly spoken languages (highlighted in the red oval in the screenshot below). Just click and you'll be taken to a Google translated version of the day's RPS Direct. Second, I've streamlined the links section at the bottom of the email. If there's anything missing that you feel is critical, please let me know!
