Principal's Message

  • Principal Dear Families of G. H. Reid Elementary School,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the G. H. Reid Family! As your principal, I am delighted to work with our dedicated staff and community to help provide an excellent educational experience for our students. We are committed to ensuring that your child(ren) receive the best support to learn and grow.

My vision for G. H. Reid is to provide students with an educational experience that inspires and motivates them to be lifelong learners and caring contributors to the world around them. Our goal is to provide a nurturing environment that meets the individual needs of each student, both academically and socially.

Families, teachers, support staff, community members, and administration all play a part in helping our students develop academically, socially, and emotionally. Together, we can make a positive difference. A strong partnership between home and school fosters greater success for our children. There are numerous opportunities for parental involvement at Reid. Parents are invited to participate in our Annual Back To School Night, Family Nights, STEM Fair, Career Day, Parent Teacher Conferences, student performances, fieldtrips, celebrations, etc. Monthly G. H. Reid updates will be posted on our website as well as sent home with our students. We encourage our parents to take advantage of every opportunity to support our students by continuous communication with teachers and staff. Our partnership is so important to the success of our students.

We thank you for the opportunity to work with you and your child. It is our goal to provide a safe and productive learning environment. I encourage you to stop in or call me to share ideas, concerns, or questions. I wish your family, and especially your student, great success this school year.

    Sincerely,

    Angela Delaney, M.Ed.
    Principal

  • Good afternoon G. H. Reid Families.

We have had two successful events this week and we thank each of you for your participation! We had an excellent turnout for our Family Night for our Kindergarten and First Grade Families. A special shout out to Mrs. Amanda Ketterlinus and the VCU ExCELL  group for organizing this event!! We also had many families from Kindergarten through 5th grade to pick up their books, The Trumpet of the Swan, in honor of our Virginia Reads One Book initiative. We want to thank the G. H. Reid Reading Team for organizing this event. If you have not picked up your books, please pick them up from the school between 9:00am and 4:00pm Monday through Friday. One more ask of you: as you know, a survey was distributed regarding the year round calendar.  Currently, the district has had 1800 families to complete the survey so far. Of course, we want to ensure that our G. H. Reid Families' voices are heard regarding this very important topic. I am encouraging all of our families to please participate in the survey. You can access the link here:

                                            www.rvaschools.net/survey

and it is in English and Spanish. Additionally, families can also call the Family Support Line at 804.780.6195 and an operator can complete it for you over the phone.

Lastly, I'm excited to tell you about another opportunity for our students to learn!  Richmond Public Schools will offer virtual tutoring AT NO COST to all RPS K-8 students. y es en inglés y español. Además, las familias también pueden llamar a la Línea de Apoyo Familiar al 804.780.6195 y un operador puede completarla por teléfono.

Por último, ¡estoy emocionado de contarles otra oportunidad para que nuestros estudiantes aprendan!
