Principal David Hudson
I would like to take this time to welcome all cadets, staff, and parents back to the school year 2020-2021. I would especially like to say WELCOME to our new cadets that will be attending the Franklin Military Academy for the first time. This indeed is going to be a GREAT school year. The Franklin Military Academy’s website has been prepared in the hope that it will become a valuable resource for you and provide you with school news and information. This website has been developed to enable everyone to become familiar with our school, and procedures as we navigate to the virtual school year.
At Franklin Military Academy, our staff set high academic standards for our students. Our staff works diligently to ensure that each child is working to his or her maximum ability. Parents, you must monitor your child's progress and communicate with their teacher. I am asking you to monitor and remind them of the following items as we navigate to our virtual instruction.
- Virtual etiquette - Proper attire: No sleepwear, etc.
- When to use the mute button
- Online Safety: Please make sure cadets are not recording others and make sure they are not using other electronic equipment when academic activities are being taught - For Example - cellular phones
- Communicating politely and always being respectful
- Attendance is non-negotiable. RPS attendance rules will be enforced
- Internet Safety – Only visiting school base sites
The website contains information that is important and useful. I urge you to visit it daily.
Your middle and high school years provide you with a wonderful opportunity to discover your unique talents and gifts. Please stay safe and healthy at all times.
We are excited to get the new school year underway! Although there will be many changes for this year and we will keep you updated.
Each parent is requested to sit down with his or her child and discuss appropriate school and bus behavior. Please review the Richmond Public Schools Student Code of Conduct and Franklin Military Academy School-Wide Discipline Plan.
If you have not received your ASPEN log in, please contact the school so you can make sure you are always aware of your child's progress.
Parents and guardians, it is essential to become an active PTSA member! We hope you will get involved. Together, we can make a positive difference!
If you have a concern at any time, please call. Let us continue to make this an excellent year for our school!
Thanks for allowing me to serve as your child's principal.
Stay safe and we’ll see you soon!

"RPS Direct" Emails from Superintendent Kamras
Dear #RPSStrong Family, Regardless of which political party we call home, we can all celebrate the peaceful transition of power at the US Capitol this morning – exactly two weeks after domestic terrorists violently seized our seat of government. We can also celebrate the historic swearing in of Vice President Harris – the first woman, first Black American, first American of Indian heritage, first graduate of an HBCU, and first AKA – to hold that title. I'm grateful that my boys are growing up in an America that is beginning to train everyone's unconscious mental framework of what a leader looks like to reflect the rich diversity of our nation. In addition to President Biden's sober, hopeful, and aspirational inaugural address, I was struck by the beautiful and poignant poetry of Amanda Gorman, the country's first National Youth Poet Laureate. If you weren't able to watch her recite her poem – "The Hill We Climb" – I strongly encourage you to do so...Click above to continue reading.
