Transportation Letter

  •

     Dear RPS Parents and Families,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! We are pleased to once again be part of your child’s academic success by providing transportation to ensure that they can participate in the exciting and engaging instructional activities happening in our classrooms.

     School Bus Safety

Our goal is to always transport your child to and from school safely each day. We are proud of the safety record of our school buses and the professionalism of our transportation team. It is important that our drivers can concentrate on their routes. Please support us in maintaining a safe environment on your child’s school bus by encouraging them to follow the rules posted on each school bus and the district website.

     Specialty School Hub Stops

This school year we will continue providing transportation using hub bus stops for our specialty “city-wide” schools as a method to support our students while also reducing financial costs.  We will use our elementary schools as the designated hub locations as well as other locations added during the school year.  Your child will be able to go to any of these HUB stops to get on the bus, and that is where transportation will return them in the afternoon.  A copy of HUB stops will be available at the schools and in the transportation section of the district website (www.rvaschools.net).

     School Bus Routes

Bus routes can also be found on the district website and are also available at your child’s school. Please note that routes will continue to be updated as more children are enrolled, and routes are adjusted to meet the needs of our students. Students whose bus routes change will receive information to bring home with them and parents are encouraged to frequently check the transportation section of the district website for the most up-to-date bus routes.  The transportation department team can be reached at 804-674-1234 (call volumes are expected to be higher during the first 30 days of the school year).

We are deeply committed to the safety of our students and appreciate your trust in us as a partner working together to ensure the success of your child.

      Sincerely,

     Your Child’s Transportation Department
