Applied Research

  • Applied research studies are designed to meet school administrators’ practical information needs. While not as comprehensive as a program evaluation, an applied research study would include one or more of the following elements:

    • Survey design, administration, analysis, and reporting,
    • Consultation with stakeholders to identify research questions/foci for analysis
    • Study design, guided by research questions
    • Collection of data from observations, surveys, interviews, and/or electronic data bases
    • Selection and use of appropriate statistical analysis of data collected
    • Interpretation and synthesis of data from statistical analysis
    • Review of procedures and programs in operation in other school districts
    • Presentation of research results to stakeholders
