Supporting the instructional program, the Department of Curriculum & Instruction performs an array of services for the division:
- Designing professional development on the division's curriculum, effective instructional strategies, and assessing student achievement;
- Facilitating and guiding new program initiatives;
- Analyzing data to identify school, staff and student needs;
- Identifying and facilitating various professional development opportunities;
- Initiating and/or leading division-wide professional development efforts;
- Overseeing curriculum design;
- Organizing and supporting division-wide endeavors such as art exhibits, musical events, creative writing festivals, science and social studies fairs;
- Observing teachers and offering support and feedback;
- Reviewing instructional resources (books, videos, software, etc.) in order to determine which are appropriate for classroom use;
- Responding to requests for information and/or training.
