National Board Certified Teachers

News: Three RPS Teachers Earn Prestigious National Board Certification

Richmond Public Schools is exceptionally proud of its National Board Certified Teachers. They are instructional leaders and shining examples of the teaching profession.

National Board Certification (NBC) is a voluntary, advanced teaching credential that goes beyond state licensure. NBC has national standards for what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do. The National Board certifies teachers who successfully complete its rigorous certification process. National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) are involved in every aspect of the work of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, and NBPTS provides opportunities and support for NBCTs to help build the teaching profession, promote accomplished teaching, and share their expertise as teacher leaders. The NBCT Leadership Program helps foster the movement of National Board Certified Teachers into roles as professional experts, education leaders, entrepreneurs, education policymakers, and public opinion leaders in the education system.
