    Male Scholar Athlete of the Month ~ Boushall Middle School

    Ke'trelle King

    Ke’trelle is a 6th grader at Boushall. This year, Ke’trelle has participated in Tennis and both Fall and Spring Track & Field. Ke’trelle has a positive attitude about himself and is a positive role model on and off the track and court. He exhibits the attitude needed to be a successful athlete and student. Ke’trelle is always supportive and continuously encouraging his teammates to be better, is respectful, and helpful to his teammates and coaches. Ke’trelle is a pleasure to coach and we enjoy having him on the Tennis and Track & Field team.
    Ke’trelle demonstrates excellent citizenship skills here at Boushall Middle School and always has a positive attitude and is not afraid to ask for help if he needs it. He is an outstanding student who often goes above and beyond what is expected of him and exhibits excellent leadership skills both inside and outside of the classroom. Ke’trelle helps his mother with his siblings and around the house as well. He also enjoys playing baseball and plays on a Richmond Recreation League. Overall Ke’trelle is a fun spirit to be around who always brings about a positive attitude wherever he goes and we are very proud of his continuous accomplishments.

    Casey Garnett

    Casey is a part of the Binford Lions Soccer and Track Teams, and she has shown what it means to be a “scholar athlete.”
    Casey is a 6th grade student-athlete.  She is a straight A student, with excellent behavior in all of her classes.  All of her teachers say she is a gifted young lady that thrives in everything she does.  As a 6th grader, she lead the team in medals and won with four at this year’s spring track meet.  This was a follow up to the two she won in the fall. In soccer, she was a key player on a much improved team.
    In addition to being an excellent student-athlete, she is also a member of the Binford Dance Company.  She has performed at numerous events throughout this school year. Even though she is only in the 6th grade, she has already decided her future plans.  When she leaves Binford, she plans to attend the Appomattox Regional Governor’s School for the Arts and Technology.  From there, she hopes to attend Savannah College of Art and Design.  She hopes to one day be an artist, a published author, and an Interior Designer.

    Male Scholar Athlete of the Month ~ Albert Hill Middle School

    Josiah Hargrove

    We at Albert Hill would like to introduce you to our male, March scholar student athlete of the month, Mr. Josiah Hargrove. Josiah is a 7th grade honor student. He currently plays on our Boys’ Basketball Team. He also plays football for Southside Ducks and baseball for Richmond Little League. His teachers and peer would describe him as being a people person, athletic and adventurous. In his spare time, Josiah enjoys attending church and participating in outdoor activities.
    Josiah is an active community service participant. Under the direction of church staff, Josiah participates in the Little Kappa’s’ program. With this program they participate in community food basket drives for the Holidays. They also participate in toy and food drives for the less fortunate.  The youth ministry donates coats and other winter items for children and adults during the winter season. He also participates in fund raising events that sponsor outings for children and “bless” those who are in financial need.
    Josiah is in honors classes where he is known to be an honor/scholar roll student. He has received awards in the areas of honor roll, scholar roll, President’s award and Paw Pride. In athletics he won the award for best all-around player. For baseball he won defensive player of the year.

    Anise Monroe

    Anise is a part of the Binford Lions Cheerleading Squad and Flag Football Team, and she has shown what it means to be a “scholar athlete.”
    Anise is an 8th grade student-athlete.  She is an honor roll student, and she has been one of the leaders on the cheerleading squad.  This year she decided to give flag football a chance.  She is the leading pass rusher on the Binford Lion’s defense.  When she graduates from Binford, she plans to attend Thomas Jefferson High School as part of the IB program.  After High School she hopes to attend Spelman University and major in International Technology and Business.  She plans to one day be an IT Director.
    In addition to being an excellent student-athlete, she also spends her free time volunteering at Hotchkiss Community Center.  She serves as a mentor to some of the younger children that attend there.

    Henry Knox Dendy

    We at Albert Hill would like to introduce you to our male, February scholar student athlete of the month, Mr. Knox Dandy. Knox is a 6th grade honor student. He currently plays on our Tiger’s Tennis Team. He also plays football for Western Wildcats and for Wintergreen Resort Ski team. He also enjoys playing soccer for the Fox recreation team. Knox was a former member of the Willow Oaks swimming team. In his spare time he really enjoys engaging in all sports. He enjoys engaging in outdoor and indoor play with his friends, skiing and of curse sleeping.
    Knox is a member of FBLA where her assist with planning many of the community service activities such as volunteering at the SPCA. At his church, Second Presbyterian Church, he volunteers with food, clothing and toy drives. These drives benefit people as far away as Afghanistan. Every Monday his church is known for feeding the homeless. Knox participates in such feedings once or twice a month. This past September, Knox participated in the cleaning of Belle Isle on his actual birthday.
    Knox is in honors classes where he is known to be an honor roll student. He has received awards in the areas of honor roll, scholar roll, Most Improved Athlete for the sport of football and tennis and best goalie.

    Stella Bryant

    Stella is a 7th grade student-athlete.  She excels in both the classroom and in athletics.  As a 6th grader she won a gold medal in the 1000 M.  She hopes to do the same this year.  She was a leader on a much improved soccer team this year.  She is an honor roll student.  All of her teachers say she is a pleasure to have in class.  Once she graduates from high school she plans to go to college to pursue a degree in Astronomy.
    In addition to being an excellent student-athlete, she is involved in many other things. She is currently playing percussion in the orchestra.  She is also acting in the Binford School Play, “15 Reasons to not be in a Play.”

    Terrell Moss

    Terrell is first year track athlete.  He had to overcome some hurdles to join this year’s team.  He wasn’t eligible first semester due to his grades from his 6th grade year.  Track has encouraged him to work harder in the classroom, and he is now passing and doing well in all of his classes.  He now speaks to everyone about the importance of doing well in school.
    His plans are to continue to work hard now through high school.  He would love to run track and play football in high school.  He would even like to go to college for both.  His ultimate goal is to become a professional athlete.  If that doesn’t work, he plans to pursue a career as a fire fighter.

    We at Albert Hill would like to introduce you to our January, female scholar student athlete of the month, Miss Ronin von Ofenheim. Ronin is an 8th grade scholar roll student who is adventurous, passionate and hard working. She is an active member of the Albert Hill Soccer team and is a completive rock climber for Austin Boze Climbing. She also plays soccer for the Futs Sul recreation team.
    Ronin is found to show her passion for the many mission endeavors that she participates in, in her spare time. She is an active member of the National Junior Honor Society. With that being said, she takes this membership to heart and shares her gifts and love with others. She volunteers as an assistant coach for the 2nd grade soccer team at Fox Elementary. She also volunteers at Hill with the Low incidence classes where she engaged with the students in art and other creative activities.   Ronin also volunteers in other major events in Richmond such as Cookies for Kids Cancer and the Richmond Folk Festival.
    Ronin has received a myriad of awards and accolades pertaining to academics. For the past few years, she has received awards in scholar Roll, second place in regionals for rock climbing and third place in the divisional games, 1st place for the indoor soccer competition, NJHS inductee, and member of the 1st place ranking team from Albert Hill in the sport of soccer.

    Jajuan Morton

    Jajuan Morton

    Athletic Achievements: Jajuan is an eighth grader on the Binford Lions boys basketball team.  He leads the team in scoring and rebounds.  He is first year player with the Lions, and he has already established himself as one of the leaders of the team.
    Activities: When not at school, Jajuan enjoys playing all sports.  Football and basketball are his favorite.  He also enjoys spending time with his family.
    Academic Accomplishments:Jajuan is an excellent student.  He excels in all of his classes.  Since he has been at Binford, he has been nothing but an honor rolls student with excellent citizenship.  His teachers say he is a pleasure to have in class.  After high school graduation he plans to attend college.  He wants to be a crime scene investigator

    T’azia Grantham

    Athletic Achievements: T’azia is a 8th grader at Boushall. This year T’azia participated in cheerleading. She a positive spirit that reflects upon others on her team. T’azia is well mannered and is a hard worker that coaches admire and exhibits the attitude needed to be a successful athlete.
    Academic Accomplishments: T’azia is a hard worker on and off the cheerleading team. She understands that she is a student first and athlete second through her continuous success and respectful actions. T’azia is continuously engaged in class activities and is not afraid to ask for help when she needs it.  She is currently taking all Honors classes and excelling in all as well.  T’azia enjoys drawing in her spare time as well as helping to babysit her little brother. T’azia wishes to attend a 4 year University to study Fashion in the hopes to become a fashion designer.

    Randy Anderson

    Athletic Achievements: Randy is a 8th grader at Boushall. This year, Randy has and is currently participating in Boys Basketball. Randy has a positive attitude about himself and is a positive role model on and off the court. He exhibits the attitude needed to be a successful athlete and student. Randy is always supportive and continuously encouraging his teammates to be better and is respectful and helpful to the both teammates and coaches. Randy works hard and is determined to improve on her skills. Randy is truly a pleasure to coach and we enjoy having him on the Boys Basketball team.
    Academic Accomplishments:Randy demonstrates excellent citizenship skills here at Boushall Middle School and always has a positive attitude and is not afraid to ask for help if he needs it. He is an outstanding student who often goes above and beyond what is expected of him and exhibits excellent leadership skills both inside and outside of the classroom. Randy is also a member of the Boushall Middle School band where he plays the drums and is also a part of the after school program called Higher Achievement. This is Randy’s second year in a row being Athlete of the month and we are proud to continue to recognize his continuous and consistent efforts.

    Brianna Gary

    Female scholar student athlete of the month, Miss Brianna Gary. Brianna is an 8th grade honor/scholar roll student who gets along well with her teachers and peers. She is the captain and MVP of our lady tiger’s basketball and also participates on our spring track team. She also plays basketball for Team Loaded.
    Brianna is an athlete that often participates in mission endeavors. She feeds the homeless in Monroe Park every other month and assist with church events such as carnivals and summer programs.  She is also a member of her church choir.  Brianna finds it to be a pleasure to also assist with the school’s annual food drive that supports many local food pantries with the donations received. Brianna was also a leading volunteer in or Hoops for Hearts fundraiser as well as our Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser where 110% of the fund’s raised went directly to Reach Out for Life.
    Brianna has received a myriad of awards and accolades pertaining to academics. For the past few years, she has received awards in Paw Pride, honor roll, MVP for girls’ basketball and school pride.

    October Scholar Athletes

    We at Albert Hill would like to introduce you to our male, October student athlete of the month, Mr. Charlie Waller. Charlie is a 7th grade honor student with goals of attending Morehouse College after completing high school. He currently plays on our tiger’s soccer team and for the Richmond Kickers. He also enjoys playing basketball and playing video games during his leisure time.
    Charlie finds it a privilege to serve others. He recently participated in a local clean up event near the James River. He enjoys spending time with his friends and reading. He also loves to travel. His most memorable trip was to the Bahamas
    Charlie is in all honors classes where he is known to be an honor roll student. He has received awards in the areas of honor roll, Paw Pride, and first place wins for soccer championships for two consecutive years. He has also received awards for playing football.

    Arshae Jackson

    Arshae Jackson

    Arshae is a sixth grade student that has participated in girls’ basketball.  Although she is a sixth grader, she is a leader on this team.  She has lead the girls to their best record in nearly 10 years.  She is the team’s leading scorer.
    Arshae is an outstanding student.  Being a student-athlete can be challenging, but not for her.  She is currently enrolled in all honors classes, and is an honor roll student.  Her teachers say she is an excellent student that shows respect to everyone.
