"Success is not just what you accomplish in your life, it is about what you inspire others to do."

It has been a joy to work as a school counselor where I obtained my high school diploma.  I am a proud alumna of John Marshall High School, class of 2000. Advocating for students with last names A - Ford in grades 9 -12 has been my passion since 2011.

My career path began with Richmond Public Schools at an early age while working in the Assistant Superintendent's office as a COE student in high school.  I continued to work as a work study student throughout college.  After graduating from VCU, I worked at Thomas Jefferson High School as an Administrative Office Associate for five years while working on my master's degree in counseling.  I also worked as a Family Services Advocate for the RPS Head Start program before being hired as the first school counselor at Patrick Henry Elementary Charter School.

I am excited to be at the Joy and Pride of Northside making a difference, one student at a time focusing on their academic, career, personal and social needs.

"Life is not a race but a journey.  Buckle up and enjoy the ride."

I am excited to move into the School Counseling position here at John Marshall High School.  Although, this is a new position for me I am a familiar face here at the Joy & Pride of Northside.  Previously, I served as the school's Intervention Specialist, helping at risk students progress towards graduation.  Years prior to my employment here, I was a student, a graduate of JMHS Class of 1999.  I am proud to say JMHS has been a thread of my life through various stages.

Today, I am here and prepared to assist all students especially those assigned to my caseload (Fortune - M).  I know that JMHS is a great place to take root, grow and prepare for your future.  It is my goal to assist students with academic planning and career exploration.  I am also here to help students positively process social and emotional concerns.

"Every day is a new opportunity...get up, show up, and never give up!"

I am excited to start my journey as a high school counselor here at John Marshall High School.  Richmond Public Schools is home for me.  I am a graduate of Huguenot High School class of 2001.  My commitment to RPS has allowed me the opportunity to work as a college work study student for the Assistant Superintendent of Operations, Counselor at the alternative school, Capital City Program and Office Associate at the Richmond Technical Center.  I have also had the joy of being a 3rd grade Exceptional Education Teacher at G.H. Reid Elementary.  After 4 years of teaching, I worked as a school counselor at Blackwell Elementary, where I truly found my passion in working with students to foster growth in the areas of academic, career, social, and emotional development.

Currently I serve as the Class Sponsor for the Class of 2022.

I couldn't be happier to bring my passion to JM to support the students with the last names Q - Z to Exceed Expectations with Excellence!
