Mr. Michael Jones

Dear Henderson Middle School  parents, guardians,  families, and friends!

It is a great honor and my privilege that I write this letter to all of you as your NEW assistant principal of THE Henderson Warrior family!  I am over excited to be a new member of the Warrior team and cannot wait to personally meet and greet each of you very soon.  I am excited about working with Mr. London and the rest of the Warrior team, in an effort to increase the achievement meter of our students.  As a team or educators, parents, students, and community, I am confident  that we will afford our students with a challenging and rewarding school experience.

I have been with Richmond Public Schools for 24 years, 19 as an English teacher and four as an assistant principal. I always knew that I would be an educator at a very young age.  While growing up in Petersburg, Virginia, I had many teachers and coaches who molded me into the person I am today. As many of them did, I believe that all children have the right to a quality education that will prepare them to become a productive and successful citizen.

I am a graduate of Virginia Union University with a degree in English Secondary education and a graduate of  Regent University with a degree in K-12 Administration and Supervision. As a new AP at Henderson, I will do my best everyday to be the model leader, teacher, and male role-model who will serve as a supportive figure to achieve the school mission and vision. I  also will be a collaborative member of the school’s staff, so that I can work closely with all school stakeholders in order to support their very best efforts each  and every day. Finally, student and teacher safety are very important to me, which is why I will  work collaboratively with the Safety and Security, alongside the Culture and Climate Team to ensure that positive relationships are being established and fostered for our school community.
