Greetings Broad Rock Family! I am Ms. K. Lawrence one of your School Counselors. I am from Franklin, Virginia, a small rural town in southeast VA. I graduated from two CACREP (Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs) master’s programs, one in Counselor Education from Virginia State University and Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. I am also currently enrolled in a Doctoral program for Counselor Education and Supervision at Walden University.

I am licensed in the state of Georgia as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Professional School Counselor, and Pre-K through 12th grade, in the state of VA, Certified Anger Management Specialist, and a Nationally Certified Counselor. My school counseling expertise is in Brief Solution Focus counseling with children and adolescents, ages 4 to 17 years old, who have experienced difficulties with academics, social/emotional behaviors, and career/post graduate development. I also have experience working with clinicians and community mental health support workers, both in school and community settings. I have a passion for working with children and adolescents through expressive art techniques, music, and the utilization of play therapy techniques. The more social interactions a child is exposed to, more connections are made to their environment. I am a member of the Virginia School Counseling Association, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority Incorporated, and the Crisis Team for Richmond Public Schools. Elementary counseling attempts to help all children get the most out of school. Your support and cooperation can help make your child’s school years a rewarding experience. It is our hope that parents and students feel free to use these services. We look forward to working with you.
