Mrs. Jacqueline Robinson

Affectionately Known As - “Auntie Jackie”

I was born and raised in Bronx, New York.  I received my undergraduate degree in Human Services in 1991.  I worked as an office professional for 24 years before deciding I needed to do something different.  While working at Fox Elementary school as an office professional, I took night classes at Virginia State University where I earned my Master's Degree in school counseling.

I have been a school counselor at Oak Grove since 2006.  I don't consider this to be a job but a mission.  I became a school counselor because I didn’t want to teach 25 students in a classroom. I thought that if I could work with a small group of students, I could have a greater impact on their lives. I always knew that I would end up working with children even after working as an office professional for 24 years. My life’s mission is to “encourage the youth.”

No two (2) days are ever the same at Oak Grove. I start my morning with a prayer, asking God to lead me and guide me and to do what’s best for my students at Oak Grove. I also pray that students will come to school ready to learn. I have an open-door policy which permits students to walk into my office any time – unannounced. However unrealistic it may seem, I want to be available to all students and parents at Oak Grove.  "If I can help somebody as I travel along the way, my living will not be in vain."
