If they do not come to us from strong, healthy, functioning families, it makes our job more import”.
Greetings Overby-Sheppard Elementary School Family!
My name is Tonia R. Sharpe and I am delighted to serve as the school counselor at Overby-Sheppard Learning Community. I graduated from Liberty University with a Master of Education degree in School Counseling. I completed my undergraduate studies at Virginia Commonwealth University obtaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fashion Merchandising.
Although, I am new to the school district; I’m not a stranger to Richmond Public Schools. I attended Richmond Public Schools and am a proud graduate of Jefferson-Huguenot-Wythe (George Wythe Building). Before joining the best school with the best students I worked for Partnership for the Future. Partnership for the Future (PFF) helps motivate high school students with limited resources transition from high school to college and employment, so they can become successful, contributing members of our community.
As the school counselor, it is my job to meet the academic, career, and social/emotional development related needs of all students. My school counseling program will allow me to implement collaborative efforts benefiting students, parents, teachers, administrators and the overall learning community.
Encouraging students to be their best aligns with one of my personal core values!
