Middle Years Program (MYP) Summer Assignments
English: Summer Reading
TJHS freshmen and sophomores will undertake the Slay the Slide Summer Reading Challenge for Secondary Students in partnership with Richmond Public Schools and the Richmond Public Library. Each week a new challenge is issued on Monday. Log in to Slaytheslide.com and complete each week’s challenge and take the short survey to document your progress. The complete list of challenges is also available on the website. If you can’t do them all, at least complete five. There is something for everyone in the list of challenges. Summer reading should be fun, engaging, and contain an element of choice. The Slay the Slide challenge allows for all of these. You may choose your own books or choose from the list recommended for secondary students. 9th Grade students must choose one science fiction book to prepare for the first unit in September! Most importantly, read every day and Slay the Slide!
