Richmond Public Schools (RPS) is pleased to continue to offer comprehensive and competitive benefit options to support the health and wellness of employees and their families.
Each year, all benefit eligible employees have the opportunity to enroll in, or make changes to their benefit elections through open enrollment. This year open enrollment will take place from Monday, October 15th through Friday, November 2nd, with benefit elections effective January 1, 2019.
Additionally, we are pleased to share that despite the rising cost of benefits, RPS’ 2019 benefit rates will remain the same as the 2018 rates - no increase will be passed along to employees.

RPS benefits include:
- Three (3) Cigna medical plan options for primary coverage which includes comprehensive health care, vision, prescription drugs, and Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
- A variety of additional voluntary benefits to meet unique needs, including dental, short and long term disability, and legal resources
We want to thank those employees who participated in the biometric screening/health assessment. As in previous years, taking the assessment allows you to receive a discounted benefit rate. Most importantly, the biometric screening provides you with critical information so you can make informed health decisions, including participating in one of our many wellness programs (for example, this year we’re offering additional resources related to diabetes prevention and colon testing).
We encourage you to read the enclosed material to learn more about the many benefits available to you and your family.
