Ms. Frenishee Smith

Ms. Frenishee Smith has dedicated her 20-year career in education to touching the lives of students in Richmond Public Schools. She is particularly passionate about providing rich educational opportunities for students living in poverty and adverse situations. Before becoming Assistant Principal at Carver, Frenishee served as Title 1 Math Teacher, 3rd-grade teacher, and lead  Math and Science teacher. She has been a curriculum writer and Professional Development Presenter for the district. She is Richmond Public Schools' 2009 Teacher of the Year and 2017 R.E.B. Award for Teaching Excellence recipient.

Frenishee earned her Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies at Virginia Union University' and holds a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Richmond, where she also received her Post-graduate Certification in Educational Leadership and Policy. 

Ms. Smith is a proud product of Richmond Public schools and she wholeheartedly believes every child can and will learn if given an opportunity. She is excited and ready to assist in leading the Carver community to achieve academic excellence.
