    New Teacher Mentoring Program

As a continuing support for new teachers and mentors, the Office of Professional Development sponsors monthly workshops centered around a variety of topics.

New teacher support liaisons provide support to all teachers new to the profession. All new teachers will be contacted by an assigned liaison to promote new teacher success on a district wide basis. All teachers new to the profession will be assigned a mentor teacher within their building. Teachers new to RPS but not new to the profession will be assigned a school-based buddy teacher. Mentors and buddies go through rigorous training to learn how to coach and support new teachers.

CONGRATULATIONS to our 2018 RPS Exemplary New Teachers!

    New Teacher Institute

As extension of New Employee Orientation, new RPS teachers attend a week long institute that includes strategies for "getting started" in the classroom, including classroom management and local/state curriculum information. It is a collaborative effort within the Office of Academic Services as well as with school administrators, teachers and university partners.

New Teacher Institute 2018 was held at Richmond Community High School from August 20-24, 2018.
