Students are expected to be punctual and attend school daily. The school day begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 3:45 p.m. Parents are asked to limit early pickups to a minimum.
Instructional time must be maximized. It is very important that students are on time for daily opening activities.
Students should arrive no earlier than 8:45 a.m.
In extreme weather situations, parents are requested to listen to the local TV stations and/or radio station WRVA 1040 AM for official opening and/or closing of schools.
Parents/guardians are encouraged to call the school the day of their child's absence, but must send a written note requesting absences be considered excused upon returning to school. All written notes must be submitted to the school within 5 days of the last absence.
Following 10 excused absences, the principal or administrator designated over attendance will be required to review, approve or not approve, and sign off on all absences prior to being recorded as excused. Excessive excused absences will be reviewed by the school attendance support team for recommendation of additional services.
Students arriving to school after 9:05 a.m. must report to the office for an admittance slip to class. Any five unexcused tardies to school or early dismissals from school will count as the students missing a full day of instruction.
Parents are requested to make every effort to get students to school on time to minimize the loss of instructional time. The Reading/Language Arts block is customarily first on the schedule and it is very important to student progress to be present at this time.
"Winners get to school on time!"
