The Office of Engagement is responsible for coordinating all news coverage of the school district. The office oversees official communications between the school system and news media by initiating story ideas to include press releases and media alerts as well as facilitating requests for news coverage from media representatives and district personnel. OOE also provides assistance to school administrators regarding effective relations with the news media.
In order to best support you, all media requests will be streamlined through the Office of Engagement. To help facilitate these requests, we ask the media to adhere to the following guidelines and procedures:
Media Access to District Schools & Facilities
We welcome media at all of our schools. All media visits must be cleared by the Office of Engagement prior to arrival. Once the visit has been approved, media representatives are required to check-in at the front office.
Photographing, Videotaping, or Interviewing Students
RPS operates in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). This law allows students and parents to opt-out of the release of certain information about students including photographs and video. The Office of Engagement will work with each school to determine who cannot be photographed and interviewed according to FERPA guidelines. Please check with our office before taking photos, video, or conducting interviews with students. Click here to download our media release policy and opt-out form.
