Preschool for 5-year-olds
Due to the effects of the pandemic on the 2020-2021 school year, the Virginia Department of Education will allow children turning 5 years-old on or before September 30, 2021 to register in Preschool for the 2021-2022 school year instead of going to Kindergarten. The purposes of this year’s exception are for children currently attending virtual preschool to stay one more year for an in-person preschool experience, and for children that did not attend preschool this year, to have the opportunity to prepare for Kindergarten.
For more information, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Preschool Enrollment for the 2021-2022 school year is now open.
RPS Preschool offers full-day, high-quality early childhood education to eligible 3 and 4 year old children living in the City of Richmond.
Please upload pictures of child’s original birth certificate, proof of income and two proofs of address to your application. An up to date immunization record and physical (performed within the 12 months prior to the date of entrance) will be required for students to start school.

Dear #RPSStrong Family, Tonight's updates: Mask Guidance – Despite today's announcement from the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Department of Education allowing for more leniency with mask-wearing in middle and high schools, at RPS, we will be maintaining our 100% mask-wearing policy for all students, staff, and visitors. We feel this is the safest course of action, particularly with the surging delta variant.
