Central Office Staff of the Year Award
This award honors a Central Office employee whose dedication, impact, professional growth, and embodiment of RPS' core values have most advanced the work of the district.
Purpose
This award recognizes the non-school-based staffer who best exemplifies RPS’ core values and has meaningfully advanced the work of RPS over the last year. Nominations are accepted from RPS staff and community members, with three finalists per Office who are voted on by that Office (Central Office staff that are assigned to schools — such as a School Nutrition Services staff — are eligible for their building-based award.) Three finalists, including the winner, are selected by an internal committee. The winner is announced at RPS Shines.
Eligibility
Employees who are not school-based, but rather Central Office-based.
Selection Criteria
- Mission Dedication
- Commitment to the mission of RPS, which is to provide a quality education to all students.
- Impact on schools & students
- Efforts that the candidate has started or engaged in which demonstrate a measurable impact on achievement, well-being and/or future growth of RPS students or staff.
- Impact is defined as the effect or change over time that we can see, demonstrate, measure or capture.
- Commitment to professional growth
- The candidate has shown commitment to researching and gaining experiences which further their knowledge and experience in their chosen field.
4. Exemplary Member of the RPS Community
- Demonstrates a high level of integrity and professionalism
- Pursues relationship-building with staff and RPS community
- Adopts high performance standards
- Serves as a role model for students and staff
- Embodies the core values of RPS-Equity, Engagement, Excellence
Nomination Process
- Nominations (up to 100 words) may be submitted by peers, supervisors, students, families, or community members.
- Nominees are compiled onto a ballot, each Office votes.
- The top vote-earner is celebrated by the Office as their Central Office Staff of the Year.
- The top vote-earner from each Office is invited to submit an application.
Application Includes
- Personal Statement-written (up to 500 words) or video/multimedia presentation (4 to 5 min)- reflecting on your commitment to 1) RPS’ mission, 2) RPS students and schools, 3) your own professional growth and 4) striving to be an exemplary RPS employee. The statement should provide insight into your values, practices, and contributions.
- A Letter of Recommendation from your supervisor (up to 300 words) which addresses how you meet the criteria listed, (RPS’ mission, RPS students and schools, your own professional growth and being a role model), including specific examples.
Terms & Conditions
- No campaigning (campaigning = to organize a series of activities to try to achieve something)
- No self nominating.
- Chiefs and Directors are not eligible.
- Shines is a once in a lifetime award.
