The Academic Operations Team works with school and central office teams to manage and execute school and division level projects.

The Academic Operations Specialist ensures seamless operations that enhance students’ educational experiences and provide clear communication pathways across the Richmond Public Schools (RPS) system. We strive to ensure that all necessary resources are in place, processes are followed, and compliance is maintained to achieve RPS’s academic goals. The Academic Operations Specialist supports the following processes:

1. Curriculum Access & Support

We play a critical role in ensuring that curriculum resources are accessible to all students and staff across the district. Through comprehensive enrollment verification and effective procurement processes, we maintain a seamless flow of curricular materials. 

2. Master Schedule Development

We manage and oversee the creation of the division's master schedule, a key component in aligning student schedules with their academic needs. Our efforts ensure that scheduling is optimized and compliant with the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) requirements. This process includes reviewing course offerings, balancing class sizes, and accommodating special programs to provide equitable scheduling for all students.

3. Summer PRograms

We support the planning and oversight of RPS summer programs. From hiring summer administrators and teachers to ordering summer curriculum materials to managing summer student registration, we collaborate with academic and operational departments across RPS to ensure a seamless summer school experience for students and families.
