Advocacy and Family Engagement
Empowering Multilingual Learners and Their Families
We believe that every parent is a vital advocate for their child's learning, especially in multilingual settings. To support this, MLS offers a range of resources and programs designed to enhance parent advocacy. These include workshops on navigating the educational system, understanding language acquisition, and strategies to support learning at home. We also provide translation and interpretation services to ensure effective communication between families and schools.
Through our collaborative approach, we aim to build strong partnerships between families, educators, and the wider community. Together, we work towards creating an inclusive and supportive environment where multilingual learners can thrive academically and personally. Join us in this endeavor to celebrate and nurture the linguistic diversity of our students.
Multilingual Learner Success Advisory Council
The mission of the Multilingual Learner Success Advisory Council is to build trust in the educational process by partnering with community members, families, and RPS stakeholders to advise on how to improve practices for the department of Multilingual Learner Success, leading to improved outcomes and success for our multilingual learners in Richmond Public Schools. The Multilingual Learner Success Advisory Council’s work will focus on three goals including increasing graduation rates for multilingual learners, improving school and family communication in the family’s preferred language, and fostering more opportunities for family advocacy.
