Mr. Maurice Burton
Maurice Burton, a Richmond native, is the proud principal of the Richmond Career Education and Employment Academy (RCEEA). Growing up in the northside of Richmond, Mr. Burton attended Ginter Park Elementary, Henderson Middle School, and is a proud graduate of Huguenot High School. He received his Bachelor's in Biology and Master's in Special Education from Old Dominion University and a post-Master's certificate in Administration and Supervision from the George Washington University.
Since 2001, Mr. Burton has held several positions specializing in special education and administration. His career started with teaching high school science in residential facilities in the Hampton Roads area in Virginia. In 2005, he returned to his hometown teaching students with disabilities at Thompson Middle School. In 2007, he took a central office position, Private Placement Coordinator, with Henrico County Public Schools While at Henrico, Mr. Burton later transitioned to a school based Instructional Coordinator. Desiring to return to Richmond Public Schools, he took a position in central office in the Exceptional Education and Student Services office in 2011. In 2013, Mr. Burton became the principal of RCEEA.
