     Richmond City Public Schools offers a wide array of professional development opportunities for its employees, in many arenas and formats. A special focus for this year will be leadership training, including building administrators, central office administrators, aspiring leaders, and teachers. We ensure a highly trained staff for high level achievement in teaching and learning.

    To offer the highest quality professional development opportunities to meet the needs of the division, based on previous performance, data, and state and federal mandates.

    The Office of Professional Development functions in alignment with Richmond Public Schools Administrative Procedures. Programs and services are planned to provide continual improvement through a coordinated effort of employee offerings. The multi-dimensional staff development delivery plan includes training across all areas to all employees.

    Other responsibilities of the Office of Professional Development include developing leaders, the Teacher of  the Year Program, scheduling training programs as new needs arise, working with local universities to provide mentors, student teachers and clinical faculty, and ensuring that state and federal training requirements are met within the school division.
