Ms. V. Tanaia Hines
V. Tanaia Hines is committed to ensuring students of all socioeconomic backgrounds have the same educational opportunities necessary to excel and she is relentless in seeking opportunities for students to find and embrace his/her passion.
Ms. Hines was previously a middle school Assistant Principal with Norfolk Public Schools both in an International Baccalaureate MYP school and a STEM school implementing a Project Based Learning teaching strategy. She led her previous school in restructuring the STEM program which increased state test scores and has shifted the mindset of traditional teaching to developing STEM literate citizens prepared for 21st century professions.
Ms. Hines recently joined the Richmond Public Schools team in July, 2019 to lead as Principal of Bellevue Elementary school on the East End of Richmond. At Bellevue, Ms. Hines works to cultivate relationships with students, staff, parents and her community by leading them, motivating them and helping them reach their greatest potential. She expects her students to be positive contributors to their community and with this in mind, she leads by example. She collaborates with many Richmond community members, the advisory board for Stay RVA and participates in various community forums to promote the positives in Richmond Public Schools.
V. Tanaia earned her Bachelor’s in Exercise Science from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA and Master’s in School Administration and Supervision from Cambridge College in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
V. Tanaia is the proud mother of one daughter, who serves our country in the United States Navy.
