  • VISION

    The vision of the Binford Middle School Counseling Program is to equip every student with the
    knowledge and skills necessary to achieve academic, personal/social and career success, and to
    reach their highest potential as productive, responsible citizens.


    MISSION

    The mission of Binford Middle School counseling program is to provide a comprehensive
    program that strives to assist all students in acquiring skills to be successful by meeting their
    academic, personal/social and career needs.

    PHILOSOPHY

    The counselor believes:

    • Every student can learn, grow and achieve.
    • All students are entitled to the services of a professional school counselor. 
    • Effective school counseling is a collaborative process that involves school counselors, students, parents, teachers, administrators, community leaders and other stakeholders alike.


    GOALS (3 Domains)

    Academic: To identify factors that impact learning and determine a course of action to provide
    appropriate support.

    Career: To provide students with the opportunity to assess personal interests and aptitudes in
    relation to career interest.

    Personal/Social: To assist students to develop appropriate problem-solving and decision making
    skills to resolve conflicts and to accept responsibility for their choices.

    *Parents may choose to opt their child out of services by sending a letter to the School
    Counseling Department. Small group counseling or ongoing, structured counseling requires
    parental permission. Parental permission is not required for short duration personal/social
    counseling.
