Aspire Academy is a non-traditional high school program located at the Richmond Technical Center (2020 Westwood Avenue, Richmond VA 23230) that will provide students with academic, attendance, and/or behavioral challenges the opportunity to obtain a high school diploma through a modified school schedule and blended learning model.
Students will participate in an educational platform that is self-paced and have the opportunity to obtain multiple standard credits during their designated four-hour schedule to assist them in credit recovery and acceleration. More specifically, a student can begin the year as a 10th-grader and end the year as a 12th-grader who graduates in June or July if he/she completes the required coursework and successfully completes his/her Standards of Learning assessments. Additionally, students will receive social, emotional, and/or behavioral supports as appropriate from the school social worker, therapeutic day treatment counselor, and/or mentor.
Based on a review of his scholastic record and space availability, the Alternative Placement Review Committee will place a child in one of the following sessions as noted in bold above:
• Session A: 8:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.
• Session B: 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Hub transportation (centralized bus stops in different areas of the city) and lunch will be provided for students in both morning and afternoon sessions. Please check the Transportation website to determine the appropriate bus stop for your child.
