Richmond Public Schools offers a free, high-quality preschool program for eligible three- and four-year-olds.

Our outstanding preschool program empowers young learners with essential skills in math, literacy, science, and social-emotional development, providing a solid foundation for success in Kindergarten and beyond.

At RPS we go the extra mile to support families! Our program includes transportation services, nutritious breakfast and lunch, as well as aftercare options for working families, all provided at absolutely no cost to you.

Families enrolling a student in RPS for the first time will need to create an account when they first visit. Returning families should use the same login information used for enrollment or school applications of other children.

How to Get Started

What do I need to apply?

You need to complete your online preschool application and provide the following documents

1- Child’s original birth certificate or a certified copy: children need to turn 3 or 4 years old on or before September 30, 2023
2- Proof of income
3- Two proofs of address in the City of Richmond
4- Up to date immunization records and physical (performed after August 28, 2022)

Families of children with special needs are encouraged to apply to preschool.
