Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Accommodations

The American Disability Act (ADA) mandates that adequate, reasonable accommodations be provided to qualified persons with disabilities. To request consideration of ADA accommodations, please complete the ADA Accommodation Request Form and submit it to adarequest@rvaschools

Reasonable accommodations will be provided to qualified individuals with disabilities to enable them to perform the essential functions of their jobs or enjoy the equal benefits and privileges of employment. An employee with a disability may request an accommodation from the Employee & Labor Relations Department and engage in an informal process to clarify what the employee needs and identify possible accommodations.  The employee is responsible for providing medical documentation regarding the disability and possible accommodations.  All information obtained concerning an applicant or employee's medical condition or history will be treated as confidential information, maintained in separate medical files, and disclosed only as permitted by law.

Richmond Public Schools does not discriminate on the basis of disability in admission to its programs, services, or activities, in access to them, in treatment of individuals with disabilities, or any aspect of their operations.  RPS also does not discriminate based on disability in its hiring or employment practices.  This notice is provided as required by Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.  Questions, complaints, or requests for additional information regarding the ADA may be forwarded to the ADA Coordinator at adarequest@rvaschools.net.
