Principal's Message

  • Principal Murray Jayem Family,

Welcome to the last marking period of the 2020 - 2021 school year.  Wow, what a year! I am so proud of the work that our teachers, students and families have done in this virtual world! As we begin to bring this year to a close here are some things that I need to bring to the forefront.

First, I'm so proud to announce that together with our School Board Representative, Kenya Gibson, and their families, we have dedicated and renamed the Football Stadium after Coach Louis "Lou" Anderson and Gym after Coach Frank Threatts, Jr.  Please look for the unveiling of these spaces soon.

Second, it's testing season.  We will begin all EOC testing on May 1, 2021.  Parents, due to graduation requirements, EOC testing for High School Students is required.  While we understand that families may not be comfortable with the in-person test, there is the option to defer testing until next school year.  All students MUST register through the testing survey ( See the testing schedules below.  All EOC (SOL) tests will be offered in person.  Transportation will be provided.  Walk ins are NOT PERMITTED.  For more information contact your student's teacher and/or counselor.

  • RPS Direct Update - July 21, 2021

Dear #RPSStrong Family, Tonight's updates: Mask Guidance – Despite today's announcement from the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Department of Education allowing for more leniency with mask-wearing in middle and high schools, at RPS, we will be maintaining our 100% mask-wearing policy for all students, staff, and visitors. We feel this is the safest course of action, particularly with the surging delta variant.
