Welcome to the 2020-2021 virtual school year! I am excited to serve as Principal of Lucille M. Brown Middle School for the fourth year! I am committed to ensuring that we focus on student success. We believe that each and every student has a gift to share with the world, and we work hard to unlock their highest potential. We have high expectations of our students, and expect all students to uphold our school vision- to become caring and respectful individuals who inquire, learn, reflect, and take action to better our global society! I ask for your continued support all through the school year to help us reach our academic goals. Your encouragement and engagement makes a huge difference. Please continue to be involved in your child’s studies, continue to build relationships with our teachers, and continue to engage with the entire Richmond middle school community! Our children are counting on us! It is a privilege to be a part of this community and I look forward to our continued collaboration!
Need Technical Assistance?
Students who have technical issues are encouraged to email email@example.com. The Technology Services team will address issues remotely as much as possible. When you email the Help Desk, please include the student's name, school, date of birth, and student ID number (if you have it). This will help speed things up tremendously.
All rising 7th graders will be required to take the booster Tdap vaccination prior to the first day of school. Dismissal: School dismisses at 3:15pm. Car riders and walkers are called to the front of the school a few minutes earlier. Parents picking up their children are asked to enter from Jahnke Road and follow the line to the front of the school. Please refrain from calling your children across the parking lot, as this is very unsafe.

NextUp Registration: Calling all middle schoolers! If math class can be online then why not dance, art, cooking or coding? LIVE, online enrichment classes led by area program providers are now available to RPS middle school students through NextUp RVA’s online portal. Through this online portal, students can participate in live and interactive enrichment classes led by local, quality program providers. Classes are offered at no-cost to RPS families. Please visit our online portal to get your kids started.
What is NextUp? NextUp is a local nonprofit organization that manages a coordinated system of high-quality enrichment providers. NextUp is responsible for ensuring all RPS middle schoolers have access to quality learning enrichments that expand students’ learning beyond the school day. Simply put, NextUp breaks down barriers, ensures quality, achieves results, and leverages what works, because kids who participate in enrichment programming learn better, feel better, and do better.
Registration for the upcoming Fall session is still open. For more information about NextUp, visit www.nextuprva.org.
We ask that all students adhere to our dress code policy and refrain from wearing hats, hoods, head scarves, sunglasses, see-through items, crop tops that expose a bare midriff, bedroom attire, and open-toe shoes/sandals.

"RPS Direct" Emails from Superintendent Kamras
Dear #RPSStrong Family, Tonight's updates: Food Update – I'm happy to share that all elementary schools and preschools will shift to hot lunches starting next Monday, October 4. All middle and high schools will do so later in the month. Please note that we will have vegetarian options in addition to the menu below. Click above to continue reading!
Dear #RPSStrong Family, Happy Fall Friday! Tonight's updates: Richmond Virtual Academy (RVA) Waitlist Update – Please note the following: By next Friday, October 1, we will notify all preschool-5th grade families of their status – whether offered a seat or not – via the email address they used to register their student/s on the waitlist. In the interest of fairness, we are using a randomized selection process to identify students for the limited number of available seats. As I shared last week, there are unfortunately no more virtual seats for middle and high school students. Any family who is already enrolled in virtual can switch to in-person at any time by completing the Switch Pathways Form (Formulario de Cambio de Decisión).
