Career and Technical Education Course Disclaimer

While receiving instruction virtually, Richmond Public Schools does not expect students in high school Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes to perform hands-on activities and/or use any equipment typically used for those activities, that the student and/or family may personally own or rent, at home, or any place else that they are engaging in virtual instruction.  While it is typically expected in the career and technical education competencies when receiving instruction in a school building that the students perform hands-on activities, during the time that RPS is delivering instruction virtually, CTE teachers will demonstrate the competencies required to complete a task through virtual instruction while students observe only or direct students to watch videos on how to properly complete the task.  Richmond Public Schools shall not be responsible or held liable for any injuries and/or property damage to the student, and/or others at the location, and/or any property owned and/or in the possession of the student’s family, if the student wishes to complete tasks taught through virtual instruction at their residence or any location, with or without adult supervision, and/or using equipment owned or rented by the student and/or the student’s family.
