As we approach the end of the year, it is with pride that we look back at what our students and staff have accomplished already this year.  Student learning continues to take center stage at John Marshall High School.  Across all grades and subject areas, students and teachers collaborate in the learning process through innovative teaching practices, feedback and student input into their learning and assessment.  The skills necessary for 21st Century learning and the common language used to articulate and foster these values are slowly becoming part of the Jayem culture.  We have installed the Class of 2020 and our 1st student council in a long time, taped the newest members of the National Honors Society and kicked off our newest student and staff celebration:  Pass the Gavel - Our new tradition of celebrating the excellence in all of us.

Each morning we welcome all to the Joy and Pride of Northside, a place where we are Exceeding Expectations through Excellence every single day.  Excellence is the gradual result of always striving to do better.  When a team outgrows individiual performance and learns team confidence, excellence becomes a reality.  Excellence is a better teacher than mediocrity.  The lessons of the ordinary are everywhere, however, truly profound and original insights are to be found only in studying the exemplary.  We are what we repeatedly do, therefore, excellence is not an act, it's a habit.  When we settle in the fact that perfection is not attainable, while chasing perfection, we can catch excellence!

I'm on the chase, catch me if you can!
