Dear Students, Parents, and Staff of Barack Obama Elementary,
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! This school year will be unlike any other one that we have had before; spending the first semester learning virtually due to COVID-19 will be challenging and will cause a lot of changes to our normal back to school process. However, one thing that will never change is how hard the administration and faculty of Barack Obama Elementary will work to provide the best education possible for the students, or how deeply we care about the safety and health of your children.
We’re excited to make the 2020-2021 school year one of our best yet as we welcome new families and continue fostering positive relationships with returning ones. At Barack Obama Elementary, we strive to provide productive, challenging and rewarding learning experiences for each student in a safe and positive environment.
In order for this school year to be successful, parental support will be key to your child’s achievement. As the school year begins, I would like to remind everyone how vitally important it is for students to attend school every day; this includes virtually. Numerous absences equal lost instruction time and we want our Obama Stars to be as prepared as possible. Please assist me in this endeavor. The lines of communication remain open and we are readily available for assistance to ensure optimum success for students.
The safety of our children is and will continue to be our top priority. The 2020-2021 Barack Obama Elementary Parent and Student Handbook will be posted soon and will outline our routines and procedures, and the only way to improve our systems is to consistently practice.
I know this school year will be challenging, but together we can have a great school year. Thank you to everyone for making Barack Obama Elementary the best school in Richmond!
