Dear Parents or Guardians,

Welcome to the start of the 2020–2021 school year, new and returning Titans! First, I would like to say that I have missed each and every one of you. I hope you have had a fun and safe summer. As you’ll know this year’s instruction will be delivered virtually. With that being said, we are more than ever committed to providing the best education as possible to our amazing students. The instruction will be robust and engaging, with blended learning. In addition, he will continue to support the physical and mental wellness of our students, through our school counselors, social worker, CIS, and the RPS Engagement Office. However, we can’t do it alone, it will take a collaborative effort from students, parents, teachers, and the community to have a successful school year.

RPS will be providing updates through Superintendent’s Kamras Direct Newsletters, please subscribe by email. You can find this information on the RPS homepage website.

The first day of school will be September 8, 2021. The school hours are from 9:15am – 4:20pm. Additional information can be found on our school website and our social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

There is doubt that this will be a challenging school year, but I know we are up to the challenge. We will meet each challenge head on, with love and grace. Our teachers are diligently working to create a challenging and rewarding learning experience, in which all students can be successful.

We encourage and invite parents to be active participants in their child’s virtual learning experience. Without the support and involvement from parents and families, we would not be able to achieve our goals. Working together will build a sense of school community.

Our virtual open house will take place on Thursday, September 3, 2020 from 5:00pm - 6:00pm, for 6th graders and 6:00pm -7:00pm. Additional information will be forthcoming.

Thank you for entrusting us with your wonderful child(ren). I hope that you find your experience at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle very valuable and rewarding. I look forward to working with you and your child(ren) this school year.

Sincerely,

Inett Dabney
