Today would have been the last day of school for the 2019-20 school year. What a bittersweet day!
I wanted to send a final note out to you all letting you know that I am really proud of how our community has handled the pandemic and sudden closures. So many families and staff members went above and beyond to ensure that our students’ needs are being met. Most people have been demonstrating understanding, grace, and empathy as many folks were affected negatively by the economic shut down and the pandemic.
As if that was not enough, our Nation has crumbled with the very public murder of George Floyd, and our city has been engulfed in protests in support of the Black Lives Matter movement as we strive to come to grips with our own racial bias, racism and hatred that exists. I do believe that we will make strides in changing our actions and the systemic racism as long as we all take personal responsibility, open the lines of communication and LISTENING, and work TOGETHER to really make a difference. I look forward to being on this journey with the Fox community!
As we are now figuring out how to re-open school in the Fall, please fill out the RPS Survey that should come out today in the RPS Direct. I will send updates as I know them throughout the summer via email/facebook.
Beginning the week of June 22. Our office will be staffed Monday-Thursday from 9-1. While our schools still are not open to the public, there will be someone to answer phones and doorbells to address any questions/needs. Thanks for your understanding, as we are still trying to work remotely as much as possible. Email (firstname.lastname@example.org) is still the best way to get in touch with me!
Take care this ‘summer’. I miss you all and look forward the day when we can be back together in person.
