Weekly Parent Newsletter: 8.30.20

Good Afternoon LMBMS Families,

I hope this message finds you well.  The first day of school is approaching fast, and we're super, super excited about seeing all of our students on time, September 8, 2020! Please see below this week's new announcements.

Student Schedules: This week, we mailed students' schedules to the address we have on file in our ASPEN student database.  Please be sure to check your mailbox for this information and see the welcome back letter I included, along with information about our planned back to school events, required vaccinations (see in English and Spanish), and accessing Google classroom (English or Spanish).  If, for some reason, you have not yet received your child's schedule, please contact the appropriate grade level counselor via email, and they will be able to assist you.  You may request a schedule change via email until September 2nd, and the counselor will email your revised schedule back to you.  Afterwards, all schedule changes will occur between September 11-18. 

Student Technology Distribution: For students who need a computer/tablet and/or hotspot prior to the first day of school, we will host a distribution event for LMBMS students September 4th and 5th.  There is a limited supply of devices and priority will be given to  according to the schedule below:

Friday, September 4th | 2:00pm - 5:00pm 

  • 6th Grade - 2:00pm
  • 7th Grade - 3:00pm
  • 8th Grade - 4:00pm

Saturday, September 5th | 10:00am - 1:00pm

  • 6th Grade - 10:00am
  • 7th Grade - 11:00am
  • 8th Grade - 12:00pm

 

Student Kit Distribution: Student kits will be distributed according to the following schedule:

Thursday, September 10 | 5:00pm - 6:30pm

  • 6th Grade - 5:00pm
  • 7th Grade - 5:30pm
  • 8th - 6:00pm-6:30pm

Friday, September 11 | 4:30pm - 6:00pm 

  • 6th Grade - 4:30pm
  • 7th Grade - 5:00pm
  • 8th Grade - 5:30pm-6:00pm

Saturday, September 12 | 9:00am - 11:00pm

  • 6th Grade - 9:00am
  • 7th Grade - 9:30am
  • 8th Grade - 10:30am-11:00am

 

Fall Meal Distribution: This fall, students will have to provide their lunch code when picking up meals each morning (this is the same code they used before we closed). Without the code, the federal government won't reimburse RPS for the cost of the meals. If your child can't remember it, no problem. Later this week, we'll be mailing each family a letter containing your child’s code. For lots of other details about our fall meal distribution program, please go to the meal distribution section of the RPS website.

6th Grade Orientation AND 7th/8th Grade Parent Meeting: Join me Monday, August 31, 2020, from 9:30-10:30 or 3:00-4:00, for our virtual 6th grade orientation!  I will also meet with 7th and 8th grade families that evening from 6:00-7:00.  The Google Meet access information for all meetings is below:
