Three RPS Schools Earn State Recognition on the 2019 Virginia Index of Performance Awards
Three Richmond Public Schools were honored with the 2019 Virginia Index of Performance awards recognizing advanced student learning and achievement.
Open High School, Mary Munford Elementary School and William Fox Elementary School were among the 270 schools and nine school divisions honored by Gov. Ralph Northam and the Virginia Board of Education.
“Open High School, Mary Munford Elementary School and William Fox Elementary School are some of the many examples of excellence within RPS and we’re thrilled for these schools to be recognized in this way,” said Superintendent Jason Kamras. “We are deeply appreciative of the instructional leadership from their principals, the dedication of their staff and the hard work of all of their students.”
The Virginia Index of Performance recognizes schools and divisions that exceed state and federal accountability standards and achieve excellence goals established by the Governor and the Board of Education. Schools and school divisions were eligible for one of three awards based on student achievement and performance indicators from the 2017-2018 school year.
Open High School and Mary Munford Elementary earned the 2019 Board of Education Excellence Award. Only 90 schools statewide received this distinction for meeting all state and federal accountability benchmarks and making significant progress toward goals for increased student achievement and expanded educational opportunities.
William Fox Elementary School received the 2019 Board of Education Distinguished Achievement Award for meeting all state and federal benchmarks and made progress toward the goals of the Governor and the Board of Education.
