Greetings Oak Grove-Bellemeade Elementary Families,

I hope that everyone is doing well and enjoying a safe and fun-filled summer with activities that sharpen the mind, body, and soul.  As we prepare for the 2019-2020 school year, we would like to take this moment to welcome you.  I am thankful for the continued opportunity to serve as the principal of such an amazing student-body, faculty, families, and community members. 

This year our school theme is “#Champions #ThePowerofBelief.”  I believe every student, faculty, staff, parent, guardian, and community member is a champion.  A champion is someone who is resilient and persistent in his or her pursuit of personal growth and achievement.  It is with this context and lens we begin our work for the 2019-2020 school year.

We are looking forward to students arriving the first day of school, Tuesday, September 3, 2019.  Students may begin entering the building at 8:40 a.m. each morning.  For safety measures, please adhere to this time and refrain from dropping students off prior to 8:40 a.m.  The school day will end at 3:45 p.m. and students will report to their assigned dismissal locations.  Upon receipt, transportation route sheets will be posted on the front doors of our building and on the RPS website.  Please be sure to pay close attention to the School Board’s policies regarding students who have 18 or more absences.  Any student with 18 or more absences may be held back in accordance with School Board Policies 5-4.2 and 8-2.4.

We are continuing to wear our school uniforms Monday through Thursday. Tops include polo-collared shirts of any color and the bottoms include dark or light colored khakis.  Friday will be called Freestyle Friday and students can wear clothes that align with the Student Dress Code.  All students will continue to receive free breakfast and lunch. 

Please join us August 29th from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for Open House in order for your child to meet his/her teacher and drop off school supplies.  We also encourage you to join us on Thursday, September 12th at 6:00 p.m. for Back to School Night.  We are asking all families to join our Parent Teacher Association (PTA).  The dues are $5.00 per family.  Our first PTA meeting will be held during Back to School Night on September 12th.  I look forward to serving you this school year.  Please feel free to reach me if you have any questions or concerns.
