Richmond Public Schools’ Class of 2019 valedictorians were celebrated on Thursday, May 30, at an event held in their honor at the Science Museum of Virginia.
The annual Valedictorian Luncheon recognizes students earning the highest grade point average at each of the district’s high schools.
The 2019 Valedictorians and their college plans are:
Sponsored by Code VA and Best Buy, the luncheon was attended by Delegate Jeffrey Bourne, Delegate Betsy Carr, and School Board Representatives Linda Owen, Cheryl Burke and Jonathan Young. Superintendent Jason Kamras presented the awards and the keynote address was delivered by the 2019 National Teacher of the Year, Rodney Robinson. Thanks to the partnership between Code VA and Best Buy, each valedictorian was awarded a new laptop.
Students throughout Richmond Public Schools also joined in the celebration for the 2019 valedictorians: The luncheon was catered by RPS Culinary Arts Program, while music and entertainment was provided by Huguenot High School’s Jazz Band and Ensemble and Franklin Military Academy’s Color Guard.
