It’s time to start a brand new year. The 2018-2019 school year is upon us—and we couldn’t be more excited about the prospect of making it the very best school year in George Wythe High School’s esteemed history!

As we reflect and celebrate the accomplishments of the George Wythe High School 2018-2019 school year we can clearly show that our school’s academic and extra-curricular performance continues to rise.  This year presents many exciting changes with our continued dedication to improving student performance, both in and out of the classroom. Our collective goal here is to provide all students with a quality education and empower each student to maximize their potential. We support and protect the diversity that exist in our local community and have high educational and behavioral expectations for all learners. Together, in a partnership of learning, we will help all students meet the high expectations we have for them and fulfill the dreams they have for themselves.

We firmly believe it is our moral obligation as educators, parents and citizens to do whatever it takes to prepare students with the skills and knowledge necessary to meet these challenges head on. We will accomplish this goal through the design of rigorous and relevant curriculum, intended to engage students in active critical thinking and constructive learning. Administration, along with our faculty and staff will continue to provide effective instructional strategies and create meaningful assessments for measuring student’s progress.

We will continue to encourage students to enroll in stimulating courses, participate in after-school activities, and make positive contributions towards their future roles as leaders in our community. I am a true believer in the theory that all students’ have the ability to learn at high levels. Our job at George Wythe High School is to provide a learning community that ensures student learning as well as create a system to help those students who may be experiencing difficulties in the classroom. Our students’ are expected to dress appropriately and behave respectfully at all times. One of our major goals is to eliminate distractions to our students’ daily educational lessons. We demand that all students attend classes every day and to take advantage of the educational interventions provided throughout the year.

Community is key to the success of a school, and we would like to thank you for your continued support.

Parents, community leaders/ groups, teachers, staff and administration will continue to work together to provide a well-rounded education for all students of our school. We would like to extend an invitation for you to join and be active in our PTSA and booster groups throughout the school year. We greatly encourage you to attend school events, and to support our children as they are going through this challenging time in their lives. There is a great amount of talent here at GWHS, and your support of them is crucial to their success.

We believe in open communications with parents and the community. Please know that our doors are open to you. Please feel free to call upon us if you should have any questions or concerns. Please also check on your child’s classes and academic performance uses the online gradebook and parent portal regularly, and let us know if you have any questions.  Together, we will put all of our children first.

Let’s have an awesome 2018-2019 school year!!
