Welcome To Oak Grove-Bellemeade

Greetings, Families.

I am truly humbled and thankful for the opportunity to serve as your child’s principal at Oak Grove-Bellemeade Elementary School. I am excited about the great things that are going to happen this upcoming school year and I am looking forward to meeting you and learning about your goals for your child. Our school theme this year is “All-In: Building Champions!” With this is mind, I am committed to giving my all to you, our students, teachers and staff, and community stakeholders in order to help our boys and girls reach their full potential.

I believe that every child deserves a quality education that will prepare him/her for successful participation in our ever-evolving global society. As an educator with 15 years of experience, I have served as a 7th grade math teacher and department chair at an alternative middle school. While there I received the Jiffy Lube Teaching Excellence Award in 2006. I have also served as a boys’ assistant basketball coach and in-home counselor. Additionally, I have served as an administrator within the elementary, middle, and high school settings. The highlight of my teaching career has been witnessing the growth and success of my students.

My top two priorities this school year are increasing student achievement and promoting family engagement.  During the school year we will host several Principal Coffee & Conversations at our school to provide you additional opportunities to have your voice heard and to connect with other families. We will also host local community events to promote family engagement as well as events to celebrate the awesome things that you do to support our boys and girls.  I strongly encourage you to join our school’s PTA.  Be on the lookout for more information about what is happening at Oak Grove-Bellemeade Elementary School as we send out important dates in August.

Sincerely,

James A. Gordon, III
