Nadine Pope, John Marshall and PLC Senior, Wins Rule of Law Contest
Posted by Kerry Smith on 6/4/2018
One of our seniors from John Marshall HS, Nadine Pope, who will graduate with an advanced studies diploma, and was a student at the PLC, wrote an essay for the Rule of Law Essay contest (this is a contest supported by the Virginia State Bar, Virginia Bar Association, and the Virginia Law Foundation). Kerry Smith, teacher at Richmond Technical Center PLC, worked with Nadine on her essay about implied biases and stereotypes as it relates to gender. It was a fantastic essay!
We just learned today that Nadine is a 1st place winner and both she and Kerry Smith will be recognized at the School Board meeting on Monday, June 4th. Nadine will receive a trophy and her submission will be published on the Rule of Law website. She also will present her essay at the School Board meeting. Ms. Smith will also receive a certificate of recognition and acknowledgement in front of the school board.
