Please share any family- or student-focused opportunities through the form below or by emailing opportunity@rvaschools.net. Each Monday, we'll run upcoming opportunities in Direct — and they'll all live on our website, searchable by location and age. Please note, we are only able to share programs and events that are free or are minimal in cost. If scholarships or financial assistance are provided, please be sure to let us know.

School Vaccination Clinics: Feb. 5 - Mar. 26

iLead Law & Leadership Conference

The iLead Law & Leadership Conference focuses on law and leadership skills for high school students. During the program, students will work with judges, lawyers, and leaders in the legal community who are committed to supporting their academic growth and legal career aspirations. Lunch, prizes, and program materials will be provided!

The Teen Summit RVA leadership summit is back! High school students are invited to join us on Saturday, March 22, for a day of engaging and interactive experiences ranging from gun violence to substance abuse and mental health.

Free FAFSA Assistance with GRASP

On several Saturdays through March, GRASP is offering FREE workshops to assist students with completing the FAFSA. Workshops will be held at the Capital One Cafe in Carytown (2933 W Cary St) and participants have a chance to win an IPAD mini. No appointments are necessary.

Healthy School Meals for All - Advocacy Day 2/17/25

Voices for Virginia's Children, alongside Greater Richmond Fit4Kids, Virginia Poverty Law Center, and American Heart Association, will be hosting a Healthy School Meals for All Rally and Advocacy Day during the 2025 legislative session.

Paid Study @ VCU - Family Expression and Emotional Life Study

The Shield Lab at VCU is looking to connect with individuals in the community who support creating emotionally supportive spaces for youth and families and to promote their current project, the Family Expression and Emotional Life Study to African American families of middle school children. Families will be compensated for their time. Interested? Just scan the QR code on the flier to complete the interest form.

Youth Ambassador Program

Youth Ambassador Applications for the USA Pavilion are now open! Youth Ambassadors have an incredible opportunity to serve as the “Faces of America” at the Expo 2025 Osaka. This exciting, six-month-long mega event represents the largest public and commercial diplomacy forum in the region since 2010. We are partnering with Sister Cities International to identify and recruit a cohort of Americans ages 19-27. Baby ArtsPlay!™

Baby Artsplay!™ classes demonstrate the important connection between performing arts and early childhood development. Parents/caregivers attend all sessions with their children and learn strategies for incorporating singing, dancing, drama, and other multi-sensory activities into their child’s daily routine to increase engagement and support learning. Visit the website for more information and to register
