    Virtual Summer School for RPS Students

    SummerCamp@Home Dates: Monday, June 29 - Friday, July 31, 2020

    Registration for K-8 Summer Camp at Home is now closed.


    RPS SummerCamp@Home will help ensure students have a strong foundation for the upcoming school year. Summer learning programs play a critical role in the continued support of students at every age in mastering the academic objectives required to be successful as they move to the next grade level. The extended time offered by RPS summer programs provides students with additional opportunities filled with rigorous and relevant instruction as well as student-centered learning and enrichment experiences. This program is FREE for RPS students.

    Virtual Power Scholars Academy (Grades K-8)

    Elementary School Times: 9:00am – 11:15am (Academics) and 1:00pm – 4:00pm (Enrichment)

    Middle School Times: 9:00am – 12:00pm (Academics) and 1:00pm – 4:00pm (Enrichment)

    *Times above are for Monday – Thursday only. Virtual Field Trips are on Fridays. No programs will be held on July 3 or 6.

    Students will receive academic instruction in the morning from RPS teachers, and enrichment classes in the afternoon coordinated by the YMCA. These classes will be delivered virtually.

    High School Summer School (Grades 9-12)


    Virtual RPS Summer School will take place June 29-July 30 for High School students. 

    RPS will offer 4 paths for Summer 2020: 

    Path 1: Course Completion Modules:  Students in grades 9-12 (as well as 8th graders in high school credit bearing courses)  who have not completed 80% or more of RPS at Home modules must finish course completion modules and performance tasks to earn credit for the courses they were enrolled in during the 2019-2020 school year. Teacher support is available if a student needs additional assistance.

    Path 2: 9th -11th graders - Credit Recovery & Initial Credit: Students in grades 9-11 (as well as 8th graders in high school credit bearing courses) who previously failed a course(s), 


    students who have been recommended by a counselor for initial credit courses due to credit  deficits for on time graduation. 

    NO MORE THAN 2 COURSES CAN BE TAKEN. Teacher support available as needed.  Free for RPS students.

    Path 3: Initial Credit SENIORS ONLY:  Seniors who need additional courses to graduate this summer may take courses in Edgenuity for initial credit. NO MORE THAN 2 COURSES CAN BE TAKEN. Teacher support available as needed. Free for RPS students.

    Path 4:  Initial Credit: Students who wish to take Online PE 9, Online PE 10, or Driver’s Ed Theory (no behind the wheel) may do so for initial credit.  After you register, you will be contacted via the email address or phone number provided with information on how to get started (or contact sramsey@rvaschools.net).  Free for RPS students.

    During summer 2020, core content courses will have licensed teachers interacting online to support students through goal setting, progress monitoring, and virtual office hours.
